Donald Trump got some really bad news this week. Judge Tanya Chutkan is proving, as we suspected, that she will be a thorn in Trump\u2019s side. She has set a trial date in the January 6 case that is just devastating to Trump\u2019s chances at winning this election.<\/p>\n
Special Counsel Jack Smith wanted to have this case start right after the new year.<\/p>\n
This would not have been ideal for Trump, but it would have been better for all concerned over the March 4 date she has chosen.<\/p>\n
Had the case started on January 2 as requested, it would have been well over by the time Super Tuesday rolled around.<\/p>\n
With this case having 14th<\/sup> Amendment ramifications, it would have also allowed voters to know if Trump was going to be eligible for election.<\/p>\n Now, if the trial goes off on March 4, which is the eve of Super Tuesday, Trump\u2019s campaign schedule is going to get obliterated right in the middle of the election.<\/p>\n Furthermore, by the time this trial is over, the nominee is likely to have been decided.<\/p>\n If that is Trump, and he is found guilty of causing an insurrection, he is then ineligible to hold office.<\/p>\n In response, Chutkan stated, \u201cThe public has a right to prompt and efficient resolution of this matter.<\/p>\n \u201cSetting a trial date does not depend and should not depend on the defendant\u2019s personal and professional obligations.<\/p>\n \u201cMr. Trump, like any defendant, will have to make the trial date work regardless of his schedule.\u201d<\/p>\n Senator J.D.
