Ironically, it happened while they were doing a story about the rampant armed robbery.<\/p>\n<h2>Chicago reporter makes news<\/h2>\n<p>Univision Chicago doesn&#8217;t just <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2023\/08\/29\/chicago-tv-news-reporter-on-assignment-to-cover-thefts-robbed-of-video-camera-at-gunpoint\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">bring<\/a> you the latest headlines, they&#8217;re in them. A pair of their reporters were &#8220;<em>held up at gunpoint by three men wearing ski masks.<\/em>&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The news crew went to the &#8220;<em>upscale Wicker Park section<\/em>&#8221; of the windy city in the false belief they&#8217;d escape the violence. Rich people make the best targets and their camera was just too sweet of a prize to be passed by.<\/p>\n<p>The reporter and his cameraman were all set for the live shot to go with a story about the &#8220;<em>spate of robberies and carjackings<\/em>&#8221; which blew through the Windy City the previous weekend. That&#8217;s when they almost got shot themselves.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Univision crew robbed at gunpoint in Chicago while reporting on armed-robbery surge<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/d2uIyJufBA\">https:\/\/t.co\/d2uIyJufBA<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Jack Poso \ud83c\uddfa\ud83c\uddf8 (@JackPosobiec) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JackPosobiec\/status\/1696668568576749851?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 29, 2023<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Their biggest mistake was being on the streets of Chicago at 4:30 a.m. on Monday, August 28. That&#8217;s when &#8220;<em>a black SUV and a gray sedan pulled up alongside them.<\/em>&#8221; Both journalists were male, &#8220;<em>one 28 and the other 42.<\/em>&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>As they prepared to go live, in the 1200 block of North Milwaukee Avenue, &#8220;<em>three unknown male offenders exited the vehicles, wearing ski masks and displaying firearms.<\/em>&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>They&#8217;re unknown to Chicago police because there aren&#8217;t enough cops to go out and find them. The ones they do have aren&#8217;t going to risk their lives for what they&#8217;re being paid.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-330\" src=\"https:\/\/breakingheadlinestories.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/univision02.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"565\" srcset=\"https:\/\/breakingheadlinestories.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/univision02.jpg 800w, https:\/\/breakingheadlinestories.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/univision02-300x212.jpg 300w, https:\/\/breakingheadlinestories.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/univision02-768x542.jpg 768w, https:\/\/breakingheadlinestories.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/univision02-380x268.jpg 380w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>No injuries reported<\/h2>\n<p>Police are simply glad to report that no injuries were reported as the armed thugs carted away the station&#8217;s expensive equipment. No suspects are in custody as of Tuesday and none are expected to be arrested unless a disgruntled associate turns them in for reward cash.<\/p>\n<p>Until their camera was so rudely snatched away from them, they were there to report on &#8220;<em>at least 30 others who were either robbed or carjacked<\/em>&#8221; in Chicago during the previous three days.<\/p>\n<p>Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson lays blame for all the car thefts on the manufacturer. He&#8217;s suing Kia and Hyundai for making their models too easy to steal.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">A Univision news crew in Chicago was robbed while covering another armed robbery, police said. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/eFPCpfGlcP\">https:\/\/t.co\/eFPCpfGlcP<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; ABC7 Eyewitness News (@ABC7) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ABC7\/status\/1696285163775553798?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 28, 2023<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Residents of the city actually voted him in to office <a href=\"https:\/\/breakingheadlinestories.com\/index.php\/2023\/08\/24\/tucker-carlson-flips-fox-the-middle-finger\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">on purpose<\/a> so they deserve the result of his policy decisions. The station was quick to respond in a reassuring way to their staff.<\/p>\n<p>In wake of the incident, Luis Godinez, the vice president of Univision Chicago, &#8220;<em>circulated an email to employees confirming that their colleagues were the ones who were robbed.<\/em>&#8221; The irony didn&#8217;t escape Univision.<\/p>\n<p>One of their reporters, who didn&#8217;t want to give a name, quipped that &#8220;<em>as a journalist, you never want to be the story, right? You&#8217;re reporting on the story but you never think that you can become the story.
