{"id":80,"date":"2023-08-16T20:30:31","date_gmt":"2023-08-16T20:30:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/breakingheadlinestories.com\/?p=80"},"modified":"2023-08-16T20:30:31","modified_gmt":"2023-08-16T20:30:31","slug":"hunter-bidens-top-attorney-quits","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/breakingheadlinestories.com\/index.php\/2023\/08\/16\/hunter-bidens-top-attorney-quits\/","title":{"rendered":"Hunter Biden&#8217;s Top Attorney Quits"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Christopher Clark, the top lawyer heading Hunter Biden&#8217;s legal team in his tax and gun cases, has requested to be removed from those two cases.<\/p>\n<p>It appears that the negotiation and drafting of the plea agreement and diversion agreement will be contested, and Mr. Clark is a percipient witness to those issues.<\/p>\n<p>This raises further questions about the shady deal proposed by the Department of Justice which included an agreement on a separate gun charge \u2013 but fell apart after U.S. District Court Judge Maryellen Noreika raised concerns about the terms of the agreement.<\/p>\n<p>This news comes after the plea deal that was offered to Hunter Biden fell apart due to a provision that was found unacceptable by Trump-appointed US District Court Judge Maryellen Noreika.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Hunter Biden\u2019s lead criminal defense attorney Christopher Clark filed a motion to withdraw from the case in the wake of his failed plea deal citing he could now be called as a witness in future proceedings <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/0F7BaFHSqA\">pic.twitter.com\/0F7BaFHSqA<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Mona Salama \uea00 (@ByMonaSalama) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ByMonaSalama\/status\/1691453314611949568?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 15, 2023<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Hunter Biden is facing charges for failing to pay over $100,000 in taxes on an income amounting to more than $1.5 million in 2017 and 2018.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, he is also charged with purchasing a firearm and lying on a federal background form about never having been addicted to drugs \u2013 this carries with it a felony charge of up to 10 years in prison.<\/p>\n<p>In order to avoid felony charges which would come with 10 years in prison, Hunter had been offered what some have called a \u201csweetheart\u201d deal &#8211; but it fell apart during court proceedings due to unethical terms within the agreement which did not sit well with Judge Noreika who is herself a Trump appointee.<\/p>\n<p>The appointment of U.S Attorney David Weiss of Delaware by Attorney General Merrick Garland has drawn criticism from the right who feel that this is merely a distraction tactic as Weiss has been at the forefront of probes related to Hunter Biden for years now.<\/p>\n<p>Andrew McCarthy, formerly U.S attorney himself and Fox News&#8217; legal analyst criticized this appointment saying that it violated established Justice Department guidelines as Weiss remains very much part of the Biden administration despite being given the title \u2018special counsel\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>This title should have gone outwards instead of within their own camp according to McCarthy himself.<\/p>\n<p>He described this as \u2018the Biden Justice Department&#8217;s vehicle for maintaining control of an investigation that they are not pursuing\u2019 and accused them of allowing time limitations to run.<\/p>\n<p>That way 2014\/2015 conduct would already be time-barred when it came down investigations into funds worth $21 million uncovered by congressional investigators during their probe into Hunter Biden&#8217;s activities last week.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Christopher Clark, the top lawyer heading Hunter Biden&#8217;s legal team in his tax and gun cases, has requested&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":81,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[3,4],"tags":[18],"class_list":{"0":"post-80","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-breaking-news","8":"category-politics","9":"tag-hunter-biden","10":"cs-entry","11":"cs-video-wrap"},"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v23.3 -
