New Whistleblower Steps Forward Against WH

It’s no secret that the Biden administration has been met with a vast number of challenges since taking office, but none as concerning as the recent reports about child migrant smuggling into forced labor and other forms of slavery.

During a hearing held by the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration Integrity, Security and Enforcement, Health and Human Services (HHS) whistleblower Tara Lee Rodas spoke out about her experience at an Emergency Intake Site in Pomona, California; calling for Congress to take action and end this crisis once and for all.

Tara Lee Rodas testified that she had expected to help place children in loving homes when assigned as an emergency intake site worker at Pomona, California, but instead discovered something far more sinister.

She said that smugglers have been recruiting children in their home countries, smuggling them to the US border and then delivering them to sponsors.

Some being criminals and traffickers from criminal organizations which view these children as commodities or assets to be used for earning income.

According to Customs and Border Protection statistics, we’ve seen a drastic rise in unaccompanied alien children (UACs) arriving at our borders from 33,239 last year to more than 146,000 this year so far.

When these minors are encountered at the border they are transferred into HHS custody where they are then united with a sponsor – typically a parent or family member already residing in the U.S.

Unfortunately, many sponsors view these children as commodities or assets to be used for earning income resulting in an “explosion of labor trafficking.”

This is why we are seeing reports of children being forced into labor force just to pay back their smugglers – essentially turning them into modern-day slaves with wicked overlords.

Republicans continue to blame the current administration’s policies for encouraging illegal migration resulting in this problem escalating even further.

On the other hand, Democrats point out that it is an issue that predates Biden’s tenure noting efforts taken on by his team which include increasing oversight of sponsors along with new task forces set up, greater information sharing and increased funding requests.

HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra pushed back against being unable to contact 85K minors while stating that authorities were limited by Congress saying: “Congress has given us certain authorities. Our authorities end when we have found a suitable sponsor to place that child with.”

Susan Rice who recently left her role as domestic policy adviser responded saying “We were never informed of any kind of systematic problem with child labor or migrant child labor”.

Tara Lee Rodas summed it up best when she said “Realizing that we were not offering children the American dream, but instead putting them in modern-day slavery with wicked overlords, was a terrible revelation” urging lawmakers to take action before more lives are ruined because “it is my hope you’ll take action to end this crisis”.

I believe if there was ever going time for politicians from both sides come together it would be now – otherwise more vulnerable lives will be lost due to horrendous acts such as human trafficking which should never be tolerated anywhere especially here in America.
