Restaurant Waitress Prevents Horrific Abuse

Every once in a while, my wife and I will watch my seven-year-old nephew which usually involves a trip to a local restaurant.

Every single time, even if he isn’t hungry, we will order him something off of the kid’s menu. Anyone who has had kids or watched children for family can tell you if a kid isn’t hungry now they are going to be hungry later.

Can’t tell you how many times I have ordered something for that kid that he didn’t eat at the restaurant, but would eat as soon as he got home. Go figure.

The point is, for a kid old enough to feed themselves to not eat anything while at a restaurant is extremely unusual.

Which brings me to Flavaine Carvalho. She’s a waitress at Mrs. Potato in Orlando, Florida. I haven’t been there yet, despite living relatively close but I have heard pretty good things.

Anyway, she is working one day when a family of four comes in and immediately something in her knew that the situation wasn’t right.

The adults ordered something for themselves and the young girl that was with them, but nothing for the boy saying that he would eat at home.

This is extremely unusual, and when she asked them again a short time later they got a little more than agitated with her.

That’s when she knew that she had to do something. When the adults weren’t looking, she held up a sign to get the boy’s attention and to ask if he needed help.

The young man signalled that he did indeed need assistance and the waitress immediately called the police.

The cops came and questioned the boy who told them of some unspeakable horrors that he had to deal with in his home.

Cops said that had the waitress not intervened than the situation could have been a whole lot worse.

If just goes to show that if you see something that doesn’t seem quite right that you should probably do something. It’s more than worth the risk of getting it wrong and having a little egg on your face if it means that someone can be gotten out of an abusive situation.
