Teachers everywhere are held to an incredibly high moral standard, and Yeimmy Ilias Isaza of Barranquilla, Colombia recently learned this the hard way.
After administrators for her school discovered her Instagram account and deemed the sultry photos inappropriate, they fired her from her job as a teacher.
This has sparked debate among social media users over whether or not it is appropriate for teachers to post such images online.
Yeimmy Ilias Isaza had nearly 400,000 followers on Instagram with whom she shared pictures featuring her in bikinis or tight dresses prior to making international news for her termination.
School directors were reportedly appalled by these images and felt that they did not line up with what should be expected of a teacher at their institution.
Yeimmy was said to have been “a hit in the classroom” and loved her job however, this wasn’t enough to save her teaching position after administrators saw the photos on her account.
This case has ignited a firestorm of debate surrounding what type of behavior is acceptable when you are a teacher.
Should Yeimmy be allowed to post whatever she wants online without fear of repercussion or does it cross an invisible line once you become someone who works with children?
Fans of the Colombian educator expressed outrage at the decision and some even argued that envy may have been behind it all.
While there are no reports indicating that Yeimmy displayed any inappropriate behavior in front of students at school, it appears that she was terminated solely because of what she posts online–which begs the question: can a teacher ever be “too sexy”?
In spite of being fired from her teaching position, Yeimmy received something positive out of this experience–thousands more followers.
It seems that all press is good press for this Colombian beauty as she continues to upload seductive snaps while also boasting about having quickly bagged another job.
This leaves us wondering if anyone else will follow suit now that Yeimmy has proven just how far one can go when posting photos online as a teacher without repercussion?
