Danny Masterson, a former star of “That 70’s Show,” was just given his sentence. Masterson received 30 years in prison for the rape of two women more than 20 years ago. This is not only a blow to Masterson, but it will have a ripple effect for the Church of Scientology, of which Masterson is a member.
Going to Jail
Masterson, who is 47 years old, was rather stoic when the sentence was handed down. Superior Court Judge Charlaine Olmedo stated, “Mr. Masterson, I know that you’re sitting here steadfast in your claims of innocence and thus no doubt feeling victimized by a justice system that has failed you.
“But Mr. Masterson, you are not the victim here.”
Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón added, “My hope is that this sentence will somehow bring them peace and that their bravery will be an example to others.
“One of my top priorities is to ensure that Los Angeles will no longer be a hunting ground for Hollywood elite who feel entitled to prey on women.”
Leah Remini, who has been trying to expose the Church of Scientology for years, was very pleased with the sentence.

Remini, for years, has claimed that crimes that happen are often covered up by the intelligence team that works for the church, something she tried to expose on her TV show with another former member, Mike Rinder.
Rinder was a very high-ranking official in the Church of Scientology, leaving the church in 2007.
