South Carolina Congressman, Jeff Duncan, has been faced with allegations of multiple extramarital affairs. This shocking news comes after his claims to be a ‘family values’ candidate and advocate for traditional marriage. His wife of 25 years, Melody Duncan, has just filed for divorce in the Laurens County courthouse.
In her filing, Mrs. Duncan stated that one of the alleged affairs were with a DC lobbyist named Liz Williams.
The document also claims that Mr. Duncan has openly admitted the affair to many people including their sons and members of his staff.
Furthermore, the filing alleges that he moved in with his paramour only days after hosting a “Faith and Freedom BBQ” where he proclaimed his loving marriage to all attending the event.
Jeff Duncan’s alleged actions seem to contradict his self-proclaimed stance on ‘family values’.
He had previously opposed same-sex marriage while allegedly committing adultery himself – letting another man into her bed behind her husband’s back – something which was recently reported about North Dakota Governor Kristi Noem as well; another staunch Republican who was floated as a potential running mate for Donald Trump in 2024.
Her chances of joining Trump’s ticket have been greatly affected due to these reports and accusations against both her and Mr. Duncan have highlighted how hypocritical such politicians can be when it comes to their own personal lives compared to their public statements on family values and traditional marriage.
Though we expect our elected officials to set an example for society by upholding moral standards such as fidelity in their marriages, this doesn’t appear to be reality as we are seeing more cases like these pop up across America involving political figures engaging in activities contrary to what they publicly preach about family values or traditional marriages being upheld at all times.
It remains unclear whether further action will be taken against Duncan or if any consequences will follow from this revelation but it certainly casts doubt over politicians who claim themselves true believers when it comes down protecting ‘traditional marriage’ or advocating ‘family values’ when often times they don’t even adhere this standard themselves.
