Dozens of “militant anarchists” and “eco-activists” are shocked to find that they’re being charged with “racketeering” in Georgia. They’re the one’s who terrorized Atlanta over plans to build a training facility for police. “Cop City” wasn’t real popular with those opposed to law and order.
61 anarchists indicted
Peaceful demonstration to voice your opinion is perfectly legal, even for anarchists. What got “Defend the Atlanta Forest” members in trouble were acts of “vandalism and violence” they allegedly committed.
The Attorney General for Georgia is calling their conspiracy to commit mayhem “racketeering.” Chris Carr “slammed the defendants during a news conference Tuesday.”
On September 5, they made the “sweeping indictment” against 61 named defendants pubic, after the grand jury handed down the charges last week.
#Antifa across the US are panicking after 61 comrades were indicted by a Fulton County grand jury on RICO & terrorism charges for their alleged violent conspiracy connected to the terror #StopCopCity campaign. An SPLC staffer is among the indicted. https://t.co/gKzDdjkUtO

Each and every one of the accused, Carr argues, “together have conspired to prevent the construction of the Atlanta Public Safety Training Center by conducting, coordinating and organizing acts of violence, intimidation and property destruction.” Largely out of state anarchists were firmly behind the “Stop Cop City” effort.
The conspiracy, Carr notes, “has been going on for more than two years.” Anarchists don’t like to hear tales of a “$90 million police and fire training center.”
They’re convinced it will “will further militarize police and cause environmental damage in an urban forest.” They’re mostly concerned about effective police because the activists tend to break laws with impunity.
Knowingly joined the conspiracy
These defendants, the indictment states, are part of a “self-identified coalition and enterprise of militant anarchists, eco-activists and community organizers,” who are also “anti-police.” They knew exactly what they were doing.
“Each individual charged in this indictment knowingly joined the conspiracy in an attempt to prevent the training center from being built.” They were practically a guerrilla unit terrorizing the surrounding region.
The racketeering charges filed under the state’s version of the RICO law landed on defendants from other states. Some of them “face additional charges including domestic terrorism, arson and money laundering.”

The anarchists were determined to do what it took to stop the project which they consider “anti-democratic.” The majority of democrats think laws are outdated and need to be simply ignored. Enforcing them is absurd and training cops to do that enforcement absolutely out of the question.
Not to be discouraged, the Cop City Vote coalition issued a statement in support of the accused anarchists. “Chris Carr may try to use his prosecutors and power to build his gubernatorial campaign and silence free speech, but his threats will not silence our commitment to standing up for our future, our community, and our city.”
Current Governor Brian Kemp isn’t phased by what they had to say. “My top priority is and always will be keeping Georgians safe, especially against out-of-state radicals that threaten the safety of our citizens and law enforcement.“
