Video: Gas Plant Explodes Not Once But Twice

At least one person has died and dozens have sustained injuries after a fuel station explosion in Romania on Saturday.

The blast occurred in Crevedia, northwest of the country’s capital Bucharest. Many nearby residents were forced to evacuate their homes due to the extensive damage caused by the explosions.

The incident happened at a fueling station that provides liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), a fuel used for household appliances and vehicles.

LPG is widely used throughout Eastern Europe due to its cheaper cost compared to that of gasoline or diesel.

Romanian health minister Alexandru Rafila confirmed to local media that one person had lost their life as a result of the explosion.

Additionally, several people were burned and had to be transported to hospitals in Bucharest for treatment – one of whom sustained serious injuries.

Emergency officials reported that there was another explosion at the same location shortly after the first one took place, leading to 26 firefighters being injured as well.

People living within 750 meters (2,460 feet) around the station were evacuated from their homes as there was still an LPG tank at risk of exploding too.

Social media videos showed that flames had spread into dry crops surrounding it with nearby houses and vehicles damaged by its heat too.
