Even if someone does snatch 50 pounds of pot fronted to you by the cartel, you’re not allowed to torture the suspected thief with a blowtorch to get it back. You get 40-50 years in prison for that and the judge calls it “sadistic.” Taking a break from your torture session to rape a woman, for no real reason other than all the coke you’re on, is good for another 30-40 behind bars. For Tanner Danielson, those are going to be served consecutively. Assuming he behaves, and survives, the 31-year-old gets out when he’s about 121.
The thief survived
Tanner Danielson made the mistake of allowing the suspected thief he tortured to survive. He left his unidentified victim “in the countryside tied to a tree.” According to police, “The man only escaped after he miraculously managed to free himself from the tree and ran to the road to flag down help while still handcuffed.” He led the cops straight to his torturer.
Once behind bars, the cartel will be looking out for Danielson because they’re sure to notice how sadistically thorough he was in protecting their shared interests in the drug trade.
Danielson happened to be a welder by trade, when he wasn’t dealing pot. He just got sentenced to “to up to 90 years in prison after he tortured a man with a blowtorch and hung him on a forklift, and raped a woman, over stolen cartel drugs.”

It’s not sure if the guy he tortured really was the thief. The “heinous” attacks including rape of an unidentified woman, happened in July of 2022.
Danielson “abducted the 26-year-old man after he suspected him of stealing 50 pounds of marijuana, worth up to $200,000, that went missing from his house.” He didn’t have the 200k to pay for it and knew it would be him hanging from that forklift if he didn’t get it back.
He had to torture the thief, he testified, because “he believed the cartel was going to harm him and his family after the pot was stolen — so he ‘had to do‘ it.” The judge was not sympathetic.
Tortured more than 12 hours
After suspending the suspected thief from a forklift, The welder “tortured the man for more than 12 hours.” As they passed the time in casual conversation about the missing herb, “Danielson burned the word ‘thief‘ onto the unidentified man’s body, beat and drugged him, hanged him from the forklift, and shoved a gun in his mouth.”
When he was done, the victim was left “in the countryside tied to a tree.” Nobody mentions if the location of the missing marijuana was eventually revealed.
Just for fun, “Danielson also raped a woman who had come to the warehouse with him.” The judge mentioned there was no fear of the cartel to justify that one. When he was done Danielson “then threatened to kill her if she reported the crime to the police.”
Deputy Lancaster County Attorney Jeff Mathers scoffed at Tanner Danielson's suggestion he "had to do it."
"Had to beat, torture, restrain and leave — possibly for dead — an individual? He had to rape a woman? Ridiculous. Come on," Mathers said. https://t.co/TgFLsnpGhc— Lori Pilger (@LJSpilger) September 6, 2023
Both the thief and the rape victim “were expecting to meet up with Danielson’s co-conspirator Austin Widhalm, 28, to buy cocaine.” Austin will be in jail with him because he already “pleaded no contest to assault and false imprisonment.” For making the call to set them up.
Judge Susan Strong wasn’t thrilled with Danielson’s behavior when she handed down his sentence. “Only a sadistic and evil person could do these things to another human being,” even if they are a reefer thief. This case, she noted, was “one of the most heinous factual scenarios” she has seen. The sadistic torturer begged her for mercy, “I was scared beyond belief. I had no clue what to do,” he whined. “I beg of you to see me for who I am, not for the things I truly felt I had to do to save myself.”
Yeah sure, the prosecutor argued. He “had to beat, torture, restrain and leave — possibly for dead — an individual? He had to rape a woman? Ridiculous. Come on,” Deputy Lancaster County Attorney Jeff Mathers declared. Even the Hunter Biden defense didn’t work. But, but, but… Danielson stammered, “I was high on cocaine at the time of the attack.” So what, the judge responded, with a bang of her gavel. See you next century.
